Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988) was the son of a fourth generation Swedish cabinet maker. He loved architecture and interior design. Although he was reared toilers with beautiful wood from woodworking world, he was drawn in another direction of motion functionality in the early 1900's.

Bruno Mathsson: six generations of outstanding furniture designs

The Swedish designer Bruno Mathsson was born into a furniture nods family in Värnamo ( Google Maps ) 1907th His father was a famous furniture maker who made well-designed wooden furniture as well as four generations Mathsson previously had done. During his childhood, he learned not only the technical skills needed to make furniture but also a feeling for the nature of wood and a tradition of manufacturing Furniture out of the ordinary.

Bruno Mathsson was fascinated by the technical aspects of furniture design and began reading everything he could find about the subject. He borrowed books from museums and design centers and formed contacts that would prove to be life-long mentor and colleagues. Largely self-taught on both the technical aspects of furniture design, design styles, he became obsessed with functionalism. One of his functionalist designs eventually gave him a scholarship.

Bruno Mathsson was not at all satisfied with the limitations of traditional furniture design brought with him and he therefore began to experiment with including chairs without springs and heavy padding that it was possible to adjust the position of - all with a clean and elegant style.
