Finnish design often find themselves in the shadow of its Nordic neighbors, particularly with regard to furniture design. Finland counts also not to Scandinavia purely geographical, as reflected in the style. The main characteristic of Finnish design is a strong preference for curves, surfaces and round - like a lot of Norwegian design chair - comfort.

Yrjo Kukkapuro swivel armchair Karuselli has fascinated and pleased our muscles in his nearly 45 years. Even at first glance of Karusellis profile and bizarre foot, we understand that this can not be classed as Scandinavian design. The armchair is well known for being HABITAT founder Terrence Conran's favorite, because it is simply unbelievable beauties to sit in. The fact that the reserves in this way is not a coincidence when Karu lli actually is shaped by the human body. Anecdotes behind the inspiration and creation of the armchair vary.

901 thevagn is incomparable

901 thevagnen is designed by the renowned Finnish furniture designer Alvar Aalto. This TEACART of Aalto has such a refined and modern look to it's incredible that it's debut in 1937 at the World Fair in Paris. One of his great innovations, curved birch frame, visible on both sides of the trolley. It has a strong, light frame and thick layers of birch form closed loop.

All practical components can be found at 901 thevagnen. It has big white wheels with black tread rubber, handle, and no peripheral edge is of solid birch. 901-wagon also has shelves with white laminated surface.

Alvar Aalto: Father of Modernism

Alvar Aalto was born in 1898 in Kuortane in Finland and died in Helsinki 1976th He was a famous Finnish architect and furniture designer. Aalto studied architecture in Helsinki and graduated 1921st His career did not start particularly well in the Finnish capital, so he moved to a small town where he found an office.

He hired a young, female glass and furniture designer named Aino who later became his wife. Aino and Alvar had two children. Alvar Aalto worked in Finland to design the most famous landmarks in the 1920s - and 1930s. He was a teacher at MIT in the late 1940s. His most famous furniture includes several table designs and even his lamps are highly esteemed.
