Karuselli by Yrjö Kukkapuro

Finnish design often end up in the shadow of its Nordic neighbors, especially in terms of furniture design. Finland are also not to Scandinavia as geography, which is reflected in the style. The main characteristic of Finnish design is a strong preference for curves, rounded surfaces and - like much of the Norwegian chair design - comfort.

Yrjö Kukkapuro swivel armchair Karuselli has fascinated and pleased our muscles in his nearly 45 years. Even at first glance of Karusellis profile and bizarre feet, we understand that this can not be classed as Scandinavian design. The armchair is well known for being Habitat founder Terence Conran's favorite, because it simply is incredibly comfortable to sit in. 901 thevagn are matchless

901 thevagnen is designed by the renowned Finnish furniture designer Alvar Aalto. This tevagnen of Aalto has such a refined and modern look to it's incredible that it's debut in 1937 at the World Fair in Paris. One of his major innovations, curved birch frames, visible on both sides of the wagon. It has a strong, light frame and thick layers of birch form closed loops.

All practical components can be found at 901 thevagnen. It has large, white wheels with black tread rubber, handle and rim stripes are solid birch. 901-wagon also has shelves with white laminated surfaces.

Alvar Aalto: Father of Modernism

Alvar Aalto was born in 1898 in Kuortane in Finland and died in Helsinki 1976th He was a famous Finnish architect and furniture designer. Aalto studied architecture in Helsinki and graduated 1921st His career did not start particularly well in the Finnish capital, so he moved to a small town where he found an office.

He hired a young, female glass and furniture designer named Aino, who later became his wife. Aino and Alvar had two children. Alvar Aalto was working in Finland to design the most famous landmarks in 1920 - and 1930's. He was a professor at MIT in the late 1940's. His most famous furniture includes many table designs, and even his lamps are highly revered.
