Yngve Ekstrom, founder of Swedese and Lamino chair designer

Scandinavian design was a very large part of the 1900s home furnishings industry, and some names are different indeed from the crowd. Like many other Scandinavian designers, he studied not only the woodwork but learned also from the academic study of art history and related painting, drawing and sculpting. 1945 he founded and his brother Jerker Swedese , one of the most respected manufacturers of modern Furniture in the world. He continued to be active in the company until his death, a career of over forty years. Products from Swedese included elegant, artistic works for the home, but the clean profile and utilitariska design, they made even more popular in larger offices and businesses.

Ekström's perhaps most famous work was Lamino chair that was created for the first time in the 1950s and still in production and popular even today. Lamino The chair was named Sweden's best seat in the 1900's by a Swedish design magazine in 1999 and received another important award, the Design Innovation, the IMM in Cologne 2003rd

This chair has attractive curves seen both from the front, and are often sold with a matching ottoman. It can be done in most types of wood to the frame and the upholstery can match virtually any taste, from sheepskin to weave tygnät. The versatility and the simple but stylish form has contributed to its continued popularity and chair sold for between 14 000 and 20 000 SEK for new copies. Older copies have been sold for much more than that.
