Soap Making to Earn Some Extra Cash
If you have some free time at home and in need of some extra cash, you may want to take up soap making as a part-time hobby. This is a very easy hobby to do and you can even sell your soaps especially if you have become really good at making and designing them.
This is a very easy and profitable job to do as you will only need a few ingredients to start making soap. You will need some oils and lye as your basic ingredients and you will already be able to make the simplest type of soap. It might be a good idea to start out with these first and practice making soap that you can perfect your technique.
The first thing you will need to know is how to make soap and what process you are going to apply in making your soap. The cold method is recommended if you plan on selling your soaps as this yields soap with much better quality than the hot process.
The cold process of soap making is done by dissolving your lye in water and then mixing in oil with the solution. The lye and oil will undergo a process called saponification. While this is happening, the mixture must be mixed constantly so that it will become homogenous and that all of the oil may react with the lye. Once you have a completely homogenous mixture, you may now pour this into molds to give your soap a definite shape.
For around 2 days, you will still need to leave your soap covered in these molds as they will continue with the saponification process. After 2 days you may remove the covers and the soap may already be used during this time. But if you want harder and higher quality soaps, you can choose to leave your soap in their molds for a month so that they can fully harden.
Once you have become really good at making soap, you can start varying your style of making soap and add some other ingredients to increase the appeal of your soap. Using coloring dyes is a big plus when it comes to designing your soap. The use of herbal extracts and fragrance soaps may also be useful in adding appeal to your soap.
Aside from the intrinsic properties of your soap, you may also want to change the outside appearance of your soap by using different kinds of molds to make your soap. You may also want to sculpt your soaps while they are still soft so that they will have a more personalized design. Be creative and you will eventually start making store-quality soaps that you can sell at a really good price.
So if you have a little extra time at home and want to make some money, why don't you try making some soap today? It is very easy to do and you won't need a lot of time to make your soaps. You also won't need a lot of money to start off with this business. In fact, it is really very fun to do and you won't even think that you are doing this so that you can earn some money.
