Are looking for new ways to let out your creative side? Most people are tired doing drawing, painting or doing woodworks as these are very common things that are done by a lot of people. One such hobby that is surely not getting a lot of attention is soap making. This is a great activity that will help you release your artistic side and it is not being done by a lot of people.

First, you will need to know how to make soap before you can proceed to designing them. Oil and lye are the basic ingredients that you will need if you want to make soap from scratch. But you also have the option of using glycerin soap, which is already ready-made so that you can proceed to directly designing your soap.

One advantage of making your own soap is that you will be able to give it the properties that you want. Whether you want it hard or soft, if it will be good for lathering or if will mild especially for use on sensitive skin. With glycerin soap, you will only be able to alter its color or add extra ingredients to the previously formed soap.

One downside to making your own soap is that it involves handling lye, which is a very dangerous substance. It is very corrosive when comes into contact with bare skin, and it also emits fumes when dissolved in water. This can be very irritating to one's lungs. Be sure to always wear protective equipment when handling lye. As for children, using glycerin soap may be a better option.

After you have made your basic soap mixture, you can them proceed to designing your soap. The most basic techniques involve altering the color of your soap and using molds to give your soap a definite shape. You may also use knives to sculpt your soap and give it a more personal touch while it has not yet fully hardened.

Once you are already good at these, you may move on to making more creative designs. You can start combining soaps together to form even better soap designs. You don't have to limit yourself to simple designs that you see on hotel bathrooms. You can take it one step further and imitate real live sculptures, try making some food items or any other thing that you can think of.

Because soap making is a very easy hobby to do, children can also take this up as a way to pass the time. They will definitely enjoy creating their own soaps that they may use in the bathroom when showering. Just be sure that they are always supervised lest they cause an accident and injure themselves when making soap.

Soap making is a very fun hobby that people of all ages will definitely enjoy. This is a great way to pass the time especially if you are the creative type who wants to make something with their hands. This is also very practical as you can use your soaps after you have made them, or you can also display them in your bathroom to make it look better.
